AI training for procurement teams, in-house and hands-on
An in-house AI procurement training for up to 12 people: a half day from €2,500 or a full day from €4,500. Your buyers practise spend analysis, RFx drafting, contract review, supplier research and negotiation prep, and leave with written rules on confidential data and the EU AI Act’s AI-literacy duty.
Who is this AI procurement training for?
Procurement teams whose buyers already use ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot, with or without rules, and whose head of procurement wants it done properly: on the right tools, with the right data, and with results someone checks. The training is private to your team, up to 12 people, on the tools your company has licensed.
The gap it closes is a known one. The Hackett Group’s 2026 study found 43% of organisations actively pursuing AI in procurement, nearly double the year before, but only 12% using it at scale. BCG, writing on AI in procurement, puts about 70% of the value of AI in people and adoption, against 10% in the algorithms.
For a vendor-neutral introduction to what AI does in procurement, eProcurement Toolkit has a guide to AI in procurement. This page is the practical training.
Is this a new training?
Yes. I am opening this training in 2026, and there are no past sessions or participant reviews to show yet. The programme below is built on published research on how procurement teams use AI and where it goes wrong, each source named on this page. What I bring to the room is procurement systems from the inside: three full-cycle Ivalua implementations at BNP Paribas, from functional design to integrations and SQL, so the exercises use the documents a buying team really handles.
What does the training cover?
Two formats. The half day sets the rules and practises three core tasks; the full day adds spend analysis, negotiation and bid evaluation, and ends with a 30-day plan. Every exercise runs on anonymised or public documents, in the tool your company has contracted.
| Module | What participants do | Half day | Full day |
|---|---|---|---|
| What a language model does, and its limits | See a model invent a contract clause, and learn to spot it | 30 min | 30 min |
| Rules of use | Which data goes into which tool; company account against personal account; the AI Act duty | 30 min | 30 min |
| RFx drafting | Draft an RFP section from two past RFPs, then tighten it | 30 min | 30 min |
| Contract review | Summarise a contract and extract ten clauses, then check each one against the text | 30 min | 30 min |
| Supplier research | Build a supplier risk sheet from public sources, with every URL given | 30 min | 30 min |
| AI inside your procurement suite | What an embedded assistant sees and what it records (IVA for Ivalua customers) | 30 min | 30 min |
| Team charter | Write the team’s one-page rules of use | 30 min | 30 min |
| Spend analysis | Classify 200 spend lines into a taxonomy, then measure the error rate against a reference | — | 60 min |
| Negotiation preparation | Prepare the alternative to agreement, price scenarios and hard questions; role-play with the AI as the supplier | — | 60 min |
| Bid evaluation | Score offers on a weighted grid; the AI proposes, the buyer decides and justifies | — | 45 min |
| Measuring and the next 30 days | Time saved per task, errors caught; two use cases, one owner, one indicator each | — | 45 min |
The half day sets the rules and practises three everyday tasks; the full day adds the analytical work and a plan the team owns.
How does the training handle confidential data and the EU AI Act?
A third of the half day is about rules, because the risks are concrete:
- Confidential data. Prices, supplier data and contracts do not go into a consumer tool. Samsung banned generative AI tools for its staff in May 2023 after internal code was pasted into ChatGPT.
- Company accounts against personal accounts. OpenAI does not train on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or API data by default, and Anthropic does not train on Claude Team, Enterprise or API data; consumer plans work differently. The session checks the terms of the plan your company has, on the day.
- Wrong answers that look right. Even specialised legal research tools hallucinated on 17% to 33% of the queries Stanford researchers tested in 2024. Every exercise ends with a check against the source.
- The EU AI Act. Article 4 has required providers and deployers of AI systems to take AI-literacy measures for their staff since 2 February 2025. The European Commission says no certificate is needed, suggests keeping an internal record of trainings, and counts staff using ChatGPT at work as in scope.
This is training, not legal advice. Your legal or compliance team decides how the AI Act applies to you; the attendance record and the team charter give them material for it.
Can the training cover Ivalua’s own AI?
For teams that run Ivalua, yes: one module covers IVA, Ivalua’s assistant. Ivalua launched it in November 2023 with supplier research, a legal assistant, an RFP assistant and chat with documents, and announced IVA Studio in June 2026, in beta. According to Ivalua, IVA inherits the permissions of the user who calls it and cannot exceed them, logs every action, and customer data is never used to train the models.
That makes your role matrix the boundary of what IVA can see, so the module looks at it with your Ivalua administrator. For teams on another procurement suite, the same module covers that suite’s assistant from its vendor’s documentation.
What does the team leave with?
- The exercises and prompts from the session, adapted to your documents, to reuse.
- A one-page team charter: which data goes where, which tools, who checks what.
- An attendance record with the programme, for your AI-literacy file.
- For the full day: a 30-day plan with two use cases, an owner and an indicator for each.
How does a session run?
- You tell me the team, the tools your company has licensed and the tasks that matter, by booking a call or by email.
- We agree the format, the date and the documents: anonymised by your team, or public ones I provide.
- I prepare the exercises on those documents and send the programme ahead.
- The session runs live, by video, in English or French; if you want it on site, raise it in the first call.
- You receive the charter template, the exercises and the attendance record afterwards.
What does the training cost?
A half day costs from €2,500 and a full day from €4,500, excluding VAT, for a private group of up to 12 people. The price is fixed once the format and the date are agreed; I confirm it in writing before the session.
Frequently asked questions
Which AI tools does the training use?
The ones your company has licensed: ChatGPT, Claude or Microsoft Copilot, in their business or enterprise versions. The exercises work the same way in each. If your team has no company account yet, the session uses public documents only, and the rules module explains what to ask IT for.
Have you run this training before?
No, this is a new offer, opened in 2026. The programme comes from published research on AI in procurement, named on this page, and from my procurement systems work: three full-cycle Ivalua implementations at BNP Paribas. You will not find invented testimonials here.
Does the training make us compliant with the EU AI Act?
It is one of the AI-literacy measures article 4 asks for, not a certificate: the European Commission says none is required. The attendance record and the team charter document what your staff learned. How the Act applies to your organisation is a question for your legal team.
Can we use our own contracts and spend data?
Yes, if your company has an enterprise AI account whose terms cover that data, or once your team has anonymised the documents. Otherwise the exercises run on public tenders and contracts. Confidential data never goes into a personal account during the session.
Is it available in French?
Yes. I run the session in English or French, and the material follows the language of the session. A team that works in both can have the exercises in one language and the discussion in the other.
Is this an Ivalua user training?
No. It is AI training for buyers. The IVA module is there for Ivalua customers, and I state Ivalua’s facts from its own publications. For Ivalua consulting itself, see my senior missions.
