What does Ivalua supplier management cover, and what does SRM mean in Ivalua?

The short answer

Ivalua supplier management holds supplier records, risk, performance, issues and improvement plans in one module. In Ivalua’s own naming, SRM means Supplier Risk Management, not Supplier Relationship Management.

What does Ivalua supplier management cover?

Ivalua supplier management is the module where buyers keep one record per supplier and manage everything around it: onboarding, documents, risk, performance, issues and corrective actions. The same supplier record is then used in sourcing, contracts, orders and invoices. Ivalua presents it as one module with six blocks.

Block (Ivalua’s name)What Ivalua says it doesWhat it means on a project
Supplier Information Management (SIM)Supplier records: collecting and checking supplier data, supplier hierarchies, review and approval of suppliers, a branded supplier portalThe base of every other module. Data quality here decides the quality of everything after
Advanced SIM (ASIM)A supplier “golden record” across several ERPs, with mass updates of the ERP recordsOnly useful if you decide that Ivalua is the master of supplier data
Supplier Risk Management (SRM)Risk at supplier, sub-tier and contract level; external risk data; alerts and scoringNeeds risk data you buy from third parties, and people who act on the alerts
Supplier Performance Management (SPM)Scorecards and evaluations of suppliersNeeds a scoring model and evaluators who fill it in on time
Supplier Issues ManagementIssues sorted by type, handled in workflows, with an owner and follow-up actionsSomeone must own each issue type, or issues stay open
Supplier CollaborationSupplier risk plans, corrective actions and improvement plans linked to measurable outcomesSuppliers see and update their plans in the supplier portal
The six blocks on Ivalua’s Supplier Management page (read 23 October 2026), with what each one asks of the project team

SIM is the base every Ivalua customer needs. The other five blocks only work if someone owns the data and the follow-up.

For what supplier management means in general, whatever the software, eProcurement Toolkit has a neutral supplier management guide. This page is about the Ivalua module, from the side of the team that sets it up. The Ivalua modules page shows where it sits among the other modules.

Does SRM mean supplier relationship management in Ivalua?

No. On Ivalua’s Supplier Management page, SRM stands for Supplier Risk Management. Many buyers read SRM as Supplier Relationship Management, so a search for “Ivalua SRM” often expects something else. Ivalua also uses SRPM for Supplier Risk and Performance Management, the name Forrester gave to this software category in 2020.

Ivalua covers relationship work, but under other names. Scorecards and evaluations are in performance management. Disputes and recurring problems are in issues management. Action plans shared with the supplier are in supplier collaboration. When you write a requirement or read a proposal, use the full name. “SRM” in an Ivalua document means risk.

Can Ivalua be the vendor master for several ERPs?

Yes, according to Ivalua. Its advanced block (ASIM) keeps a supplier “golden record” and updates the supplier records of several ERPs. Honeywell, quoted on Ivalua’s page, calls Ivalua “our one single source of truth for vendor master management”, with “approvals, audits, and de-duplication in one place”.

It is a decision, not a default. If Ivalua is the master, a new supplier or a change of bank details is approved in Ivalua and then sent to each ERP. If the ERP stays the master for payment, the interface goes the other way, and some fields are owned by each side. Decide field by field: name, tax number, addresses, bank details, payment terms, blocking status.

The flows behind this choice are in Ivalua ERP integration. On the BNP Paribas v156 platform, which I helped build and deploy, suppliers were part of the scope. On v182, delivered and still evolving, I work on the integrations, including the supplier and ERP interfaces.

How does Ivalua supplier risk management work, and where does the risk data come from?

Ivalua supplier risk management collects risk data on each supplier, scores it and raises alerts. Ivalua lists financial, legal, geographical and CSR risk factors, risk scorecards for suppliers and their own suppliers (sub-tier), questionnaire campaigns, and tracking of issues and improvement actions.

Most of the external risk data does not come from Ivalua. It comes from data providers, connected to Ivalua and paid for in separate subscriptions. The public announcements below name some of them.

The platform gives the scores and the alerts. The data behind them is a separate contract, with its own price and its own interface.

Statnett, the Norwegian grid operator, shows how this works in practice. In September 2025 it published a tender to buy supplier risk data, explaining that it is “strengthening its supplier risk management process”. The data goes “into our supplier management system (Ivalua)”. The tender had three lots: risk and sustainability data on suppliers, ESG data by country, sector and raw material, and financial and ownership data.

I found no public announcement of an Ivalua integration with Dun & Bradstreet, RapidRatings, Interos or Prewave. That does not mean none exists. Ask Ivalua for a live customer using the provider you have chosen, on your version.

How are supplier performance and issues handled in Ivalua?

Performance management gives each supplier a scorecard, filled by evaluations from your teams. Issues management records each problem with a type and an owner, and follows the actions until they are closed. Supplier collaboration links corrective actions and improvement plans to the supplier, who can see them and work on them in the supplier portal.

Public buyers use this part on its own. In Ivalua’s 2023 US public contract (NASPO), “Vendor Performance” is one of the workstreams that buyers can license, with Ivalua services to implement it. Celestica, after sourcing and contracts, put its supplier management module, including risk and performance, live on 13 January 2025 as phase 2.

The hard part is not the screen. It is the model: which criteria, who scores, how often, and what happens when a score drops. A scorecard nobody fills in gives a supplier list with empty columns.

Does Ivalua cover supplier quality for direct materials?

Yes, for manufacturers, according to Ivalua. Its 2026 blog says its Product Quality solution supports APQP, PPAP, 8D, SCAR and CAPA “in one platform”. Another 2026 article says it keeps ISO certificates, product quality files, audit reports, non-conformance events and corrective action plans together. Its Direct Materials page lists APQP, PPAP, 8D and new product introduction.

Public detail is thin. These are blog posts and a product page, not a functional description. Ivalua writes “non-conformance events”, not NCR. Supplier audits are mentioned, but I found no public description of how audits are planned. If quality is part of your scope, ask for a demo on your own process, with your forms and your ERP and PLM data.

What do analysts say about Ivalua supplier management?

Analysts rate Ivalua well on supplier management, with two reservations: the cost of customisation and ESG. Each report covers a different market, so the date and scope matter.

How does supplier management relate to the Ivalua supplier portal?

The supplier portal is the supplier’s side of the same records. Suppliers register, update their data and documents, answer questionnaires and work on their action plans there. Qualification, risk scoring, performance and issues stay on the buyer’s side, in supplier management. How the portal works, and what goes wrong at onboarding, is in Ivalua supplier portal.

What should you decide before deploying Ivalua supplier management?

Supplier records come first, because every other module reuses them. These decisions change the scope and cost of supplier management:

  1. Which system is the supplier master. Ivalua, the ERP, or a split by field. This decides the direction of every supplier interface.
  2. Which blocks you need now. Supplier records first. Risk, performance and issues only when someone is named to act on them.
  3. Which risk data you buy. The provider, the price, the suppliers covered, and the interface into Ivalua. Budget it apart from the Ivalua project.
  4. Your risk and performance model. Criteria, weights, thresholds, who scores, how often, and what an alert triggers.
  5. Who owns each issue type. Quality, delivery, invoice disputes or compliance: one owner and one deadline each.
  6. What you change from the standard. Every specific rule on supplier data is tested again at each upgrade. Ivalua’s 2023 terms charge complex configuration added after go-live at every upgrade.

If you need a certified Ivalua consultant to set up supplier management, connect it to your ERP or clean up supplier data before go-live, I take senior missions as techno-functional lead inside your team.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions people ask, each one sourced above.

What does SRM stand for in Ivalua?

In Ivalua’s naming, SRM means Supplier Risk Management: monitoring risk at supplier, sub-tier and contract level, with external data, alerts and scoring. It does not mean Supplier Relationship Management. Ivalua also uses SRPM for Supplier Risk and Performance Management. Relationship work sits in its performance, issues and collaboration blocks.

Does Ivalua include supplier risk data?

Not by itself. Ivalua provides risk scorecards, alerts and questionnaire campaigns. External data comes from providers such as EcoVadis for CSR ratings or Moody’s Orbis for financial data, under separate subscriptions. Statnett, for example, ran its own tender in 2025 to buy supplier risk data to feed into Ivalua.

Can Ivalua manage vendor master data for SAP and other ERPs?

Ivalua says its advanced supplier information block keeps a supplier golden record and updates supplier records in several ERPs. Honeywell calls Ivalua its single source of truth for vendor master data. Whether Ivalua or the ERP is the master is a design decision, field by field, made before the interfaces are built.

Is Ivalua good for supplier management?

Analysts rate it well. Forrester named Ivalua a Leader for supplier risk and performance in 2020, and in 2024 said it leads in supplier risk and performance. The same 2024 report says some customers find the customisation they need costly, and that Ivalua must invest more in ESG. Test both points in a demo on your own process.

Have you worked on Ivalua supplier management?

Yes, at BNP Paribas. The v156 platform I built and deployed there covered suppliers, sourcing, CLM, catalogue, BPM and e-procurement. On v182, delivered and still evolving, I work on the integrations, including the supplier and ERP interfaces.
